Iron Curtain

Iron Curtain” was a term coined by Winston Churchill in March 1946 referring to the policy of isolating the Soviet Union and its allies from trade and social intercourse with the rest of the world. The “Iron Curtain” was an essential plank of the Cold War strategy to wear down the resistance of the working class of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
