When the Revolutionary Communist Party split in 1978, a simultaneous split occured in its youth group, the Revolutionary Student Brigade. The RSB majority went with the Revolutionary Workers Headquarters, while a minority went with the Avakian group and renamed itself the Revolutionary Communist Youth Brigade. Young Communist was the new name of the RWHq-aligned RSB's former newspaper which had been called Fight Back.
