re: Color 300 dpi entire issue scans The four 300 dpi color entire issue scans in this folder represented an early experiment in how to digitally archive Workers Monthly magazine. After making them, I decided that the greater speed of scanning and contrast and read-ability of single bit text scans, and smaller issue size by a factor of 3 made scanning in 1 bit BW more desirable. In compensating for the flaws of single bit 300 dpi scanning, I used targeted, selective 600 dpi gray and single bit scans (see note for main single issue folder). Resuliting in much higher resolution where it was needed. However, I retained this earily experiment, beucase it does convey something of what these magazines looked like as I saw them, when I was handling them. I judged a more contrasty pure black text on pure white background was more functional for reading the content of this archive. But it's just as well those looking at this archive see an example of what 24 bit color 300 dpi scans show. ---marty June 2012
