1888-1938

A member of the Bolshevik Party Central Committee and the Supreme Council of National Economy (Vesenkha), he also became Commissar for Justice in the Council of People's Commissars (Sovnarkom). When the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was finally signed he, along with Bukharin, Bubnov and Uritsky, resigned all his government and party posts.
